Irony: a technique of indicating, as through character or plot development, an intention or attitude opposite to that which is actually or ostensibly stated.
Metaphor:a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance
Stereotype:Sociology. a simplified and standardized conception or image invested with special meaning and held in common by members of a group
Allusion: a passing or casual reference; an incidental mention of something, either directly or by implication
Personification: the attribution of a personal nature or character to inanimate objects or abstract notions
Symbolism:the practice of representing things by symbols, or of investing things with a symbolic meaning or character.
When the Jews started to be isolized they had to wear stars representing that they were Jews. Therefore the stars sybolized that they
were Jews.
When Corrie would use the telephone or someone called her they had different phrases for when they wanted to meet with Jews or the underground thing. For example:

External Conflict: in literature, a struggle between the protagonist and another character against nature or some outside force

Should she let the Jews stay with her and risk her safety along with their safety? Or should she make them leave and rish their safety?
When Corrie was in solitary confinement she was talking to ants because she had no one to talk to while she was in the cell and since she didnt have anyone to talk to she was getting so desperate to talk to someone she started to talk to ants.
When the officer came in and took them all away she had the decision to tell him that there were Jews in the house or she had the choice of saying that there was not any Jews hiding in the house.
External Conflicts for Corrie:
When she was arrested.
When she was put into solitary confinement.
When Betsie and her father died.

1. Young people were indoctrined into Nazism by the Hitler Youth and the League of German Girls were the primary tool that the Nazi's used to shape the beliefs of the German population. The purpose for the Germans learning all of these "good" things about Hitler, was to have all of Germany think that Hitler was a good man and that he had good ideas and that he would lead the country in to great victory. Little did they know, he said all the things that they wanted to hear, but later on he turned his words around and turned all what he said into bad things. Because of his evil work he caused World War Two. These organizations fit into Hitler's plan because he wanted everyone to worship him like a god, and he knew that when they heard things that Hitler said he would do, then he knew that they wanted him to stay to his word.

This term relates to "The Hiding Place" because the Nazi Party is the bandwagon and they grew very rapidly and it gained a lot of popularity.
Scapegoat-
a person or group made to bear the blame for others or to suffer in their place.
This term relates to the story because the Nazis and the Germans tortured and isolated the Jews because they were the ones that the Germans and Nazis blamed for their economic problems.
